Information on Kitingan Family

As far as we can discover, the Kitingan (Kitingon) Family is rooted in Tambunan, and we can  trace our ancestry to four generations before Bapa Kitingon. Tracing our roots from bapa leads us to Sugud, one of three sons of our great, great, great Taki whose name I have not been able to find out. In any case, the other brothers are Tumandan and Sundawai, great names who produced great offsprings. From Sugud, there were two children, Komboding and a son.  Sugud's grandchildren through Komboding were Kunihoi, Gidoi and Sabanau. (I must mention here that if Komboding was a woman, then by right we should be able to trace other relatives through her husband).  Sabanau ancestry is significant because it relates two of the present well known  families in Tambunan - the Kitingan and Ongkili. Sabanau had three children - Komboon, Gimbul and bapa Kitingon. His sister,  gidi Komboon  had three children, one of whom was Botindoi , the mother of Datuk James Ongkili and Dr. Maximus Ongkili.

We can trace our roots through Aki Sabanau's wife (Konsuoi) whose father, Gombuhasan had three children (probably all daughters) - Konsuoi, Konsiib and Kindoi. These all produced other present day related second generation families in Kg. Keranaan and Noudu (Jarang, Impas, Murin, and so on). Gombuhasan also had a brother, Gurudon, who was the grandfather of Gombuli, whose son, Alip, was Justin Alip's father. (Further details are available from Leijus).

Our mother, Mama Laimah came from Kg. Nambayan, a village about 5 miles south on the road towards Keningau.  We find that her father aki Imbayan came from a prominent great great gandfather called Ungkian, who  produced grand children (including Imbayan, who had six brothers and a sister, and a cousin of his, Ongkudon, father of Albertus, and another cousin of his, Inggil, the father of Amir).  Many of these lines produced big families like the Imbayan family. The Imbayan line of course produced second generation families like Clement Jaikul, Azman Jaiku, Paul Tom and of course Datuk Pairin.

When we trace our roots through Lombikoi, Mama's mother, we find many sino-dusun relatives like Fung Wing Yuk, Chong Ah Sui, Kim Leng and Roderick Chong, who live in the Kedai Tambunan.
